Miss Delaware Teen USA, Melissa King, resigned Tuesday after she was outed as having done porn nearly a year ago. In the video, King identified herself as having turned 18-years-old “about three months ago… [back in] March.”
Appearing to refer to the video as “the past” on Saturday, King wrote on Twitter “Once you move on in life people shouldn’t try to use your past against you… Let them be happy.” But her “past” didn’t stay there and her brief porno career came to light this week.
Crowned in November, King reportedly resigned today after initially denying it was her in the video. She told a local newspaper this week she was aware of the video that leaked early Tuesday. However, she claimed: “Absolutely not… It is not [me in the video].”
However, a side-by-side from the interview portion of the video and a photo from her Twitter shows it IS her.
“I thought it’d be fun and it sounded like I needed the money,” King explains in the NSFW video. “So I just decided to do it.”
Asked whether she did pageants, King replied, “I’ve done them, yes.”
Asked whether anyone knew what she was about to do, she replied, “It’s not a big secret. But I didn’t tell anybody specifically what I was doing.”
She had been caught, and she resigned. “I would like to confirm the Miss Delaware Teen USA pageant has received a resignation letter from Miss King’s attorney,” a rep for the Miss Teen USA pageant said in a statement late Tuesday.
In another video uncovered by Gawker.com, who received the tip about King’s former job, King talks about being in the foster care system from ages 12-18 (at which time she immediately did an adult movie). She had reportedly “vowed to dedicate some of her volunteer efforts [as Miss Delaware Teen USA] to working with other foster children.”
According to her Twitter, back in April 2012 (a month after doing the movie), she got financial aid to go to her first choice school, University of Arkansas.
On Sunday, she wrote: “a year ago almost , I turned 18. I’m about to turn 19 and so much has changed for the better in my life…” She continued following a bunch of supportive re-tweets, “God wouldn’t give you something that you couldn’t handle…”
